What We Do

Orthopedic care in SpokaneWe offer a full range of orthopedic care as well on-site therapy. We also perform cutting edge research that helps advance the field of orthopaedics right here in Spokane.

Orthopedic Care:

Arthritis:

Arthritis can make normal movements painful and is common as joints age or are damaged. At OSC, we understand the difficulties of living with arthritis and we work with patients to identify treatments that will help them find some relief and increased mobility. There are many kinds of arthritis and our physicians are incredibly knowledgeable about the condition and available treatment options.

Arthroscopy:

In some cases, our physicians might recommend arthroscopy to help further examine and treat a patient’s unique condition. Arthroscopy allows the physician to get a clear picture of what is taking place internally by inserting a small instrument with a camera inside the joint. The physicians at OSC recommend and perform arthroscopic procedures when necessary to make a clear diagnosis and map out an effective plan for treatment.

Broken Bones:

Broken bones or fractures are common injuries among people of all ages, but need to be examined and treated according to the patient’s situation. There can be several types of bone fractures, and our physicians are experts in diagnosing and identifying the proper treatment to get patients back to health.

Joint replacement:

Injury to or deterioration of critical joints in our bodies such as our hips and knees can cause pain and interfere with day-to-day activities. At OSC, we have physicians who specialize in joint injuries and can identify if patients are good candidates for joint replacement procedures. Our deep expertise in joint replacements means high-quality care and outstanding success rates for our patients. Joint replacement can be an appealing option to help patients regain mobility and comfort in injured joints. In addition, the Spokane Joint Replacement Center, located within Orthopaedic Specialty Clinic, offers specialized hip and knee joint replacement with research studies helping to further the field.

Micro-Surgery:

Microsurgery is a very precise procedure conducted in specific areas of the body. Microsurgery procedures are typically done on tissue, nerves, or blood vessels in your joints, and your physician might recommend this for select circumstances or conditions to help restore function.

Sports Injuries:

Sports injuries are common and can vary in severity and area of the body. Such injuries can include ACL tears, meniscal tears, and ankle fractures, among others. Our physicians who specialize in sports injuries are exceptional at identifying the injury and most effective course of treatment. OSC is home to some of our region’s top surgeons and therapists, each of whom is highly successful in getting patients back to their active lifestyles.

Workplace Injuries:

For some people, injuries can be a result of an accident in the workplace. At OSC, we see patients who have sustained injuries at work and it’s important that our physicians understand the injury and can map out a successful treatment plan to help get patients back to health and back to work. If you have sustained a workplace injury, please contact our office to learn more about your options and how we can help you get back to health.

Therapy:

Occupational Therapy:

Occupational therapy (often abbreviated as OT) is the use of treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of patients with a physical condition. Occupational therapy is a client-centered practice that places a premium on the progress towards the client’s goals. Occupational therapy is an important component of the comprehensive care we provide at OSC, which is why it’s integrated into our practice. We have on-site therapists to consult with our physicians and ensure that our patients receive care that is coordinated and addresses all of their needs. Occupational therapy at OSC means that patients get the therapy they need to recover from their injury in a way that gets them back in action on the job.

Physical Therapy:

Physical therapy (often abbreviated as PT) is primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention carried out by fully trained and licensed physical therapy specialists. Physical therapy is an important component of the comprehensive care we offer. We have physical therapists on-site to consult with our physicians and provide therapy that addresses the specific injury and aligns with the physician’s recommendations. Offering patients medical treatment and physical therapy under one roof translates to better and more coordinated care for patients.

Research:

Advancing orthopaedics. At OSC, we believe that research is a critical component of our field. Our physicians stay up to speed on the latest research so we can continue to further our understanding of orthopaedic practices and bring the highest quality care to our patients. We even conduct important research studies within our clinic so that we have a hand in shaping the future of orthopaedics. To learn more about the research Dr. Scott is leading within OSC, click here.
