David F. Scott, M.D.Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeonhip & Knee Specialist

David F. Scott, MD, graduated with honors from Cornell University, completed medical school in Boston at Tufts University, and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency in New York City at the preeminent Hospital for Joint Diseases/NYU Orthopaedic Institute, graduating with commendations as well as with a second degree in Bioengineering. In addition, he completed fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Utah, where he was an also adjunct assistant professor at the School of Medicine for over 5 years. Currently, his academic appointments include Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Clinical Associate Professor, Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Spokane, WA.

He founded Orthopaedic Specialty Clinic of Spokane, PLLC, his clinical practice for over 25 years. Dr. Scott specializes exclusively in arthritis surgery with an emphasis on hip and knee joint replacement. He has consulted and treated surgically many thousands of patients. Dr. Scott is an active fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Scott is considered a leader in his field not just in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene region, but worldwide, with regular invitations to train and teach surgeons across the globe. He frequently speaks and performs surgical demonstrations locally, nationally, and internationally, teaching the latest trends and techniques in his field.

He is very active in clinical research and has been published in numerous Orthopaedic journals and texts. He founded Spokane Joint Replacement Center, the leading hip/knee research facility in the region. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and commendations for his clinical research. He is a reviewing editor at multiple Orthopaedic surgery scientific journals. He created a best-in-class research data collection and analysis software platform, Ortho Research MasterTM.

Dr. Scott is particularly proud of his contributions to the field of knee replacement, with significant responsibility for introducing many surgeons and patients to the state-of-the-art surgical options of the Kinematic Alignment surgical technique and Medial-Pivot knee designs. His experience and extensive research publications have conclusively demonstrated that this combination of surgical technique and implant design represents the best knee replacement option currently available anywhere. He is also a leader in the technique of direct anterior hip replacement.

As the first surgeon to bring many leading hip/knee surgical technologies to the Pacific Northwest, including the use advanced bearings in hip replacement, hip resurfacing, cementless knee replacement, and computer and robotic-assisted surgery, augmented reality-based surgical techniques, and Kinematic Alignment/Medial-Pivot knee replacement, his extensive research and surgical expertise ensures that patients seeking hip/knee consultations at Orthopaedic Specialty Clinic of Spokane will receive the best and most advanced treatment available in the field of Orthopaedic surgery.
